In honor of National Mentoring Month, America Needs You rang the Nasdaq Closing Bell on January 28, bringing first-generation college students and mentorship to a national stage.
ANY CEO Alicia Guevara rang the bell with long–time first-generation education champion Todd Sisitsky, President of TPG, at the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square. They were joined by Fellows, mentors, alumni, Board members, staff, and supporters.
For many Fellows, the moment was especially meaningful. Watching themselves reflected on screens in Times Square sparked joy, pride, and a sense of belonging.
As Alicia Guevara said, “For students carrying real uncertainty about what comes next after college, moments like this can lift some of that weight and open up new ways of imagining what’s possible.”
The bell ringing served as both a celebration and a reflection of what mentorship makes possible. Through long-term relationships and guidance, mentors help first-generation students persist through college and envision futures that once felt out of reach.
