Bulat recently transferred to Columbia University, majoring in Financial Economics after studying Financial Technology at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). Originally leaning towards a career in Computer Science, Bulat’s exposure to the financial industry through classes and networking at America Needs You (ANY) workshops shifted his focus toward asset management.
Introduced to ANY’s Fellows Program by his EOP advisor at NJIT, Bulat conducted further research and found the program appealing.
I found out that the program provides career development and helps its students secure internships, which was the main reason why I chose to join.
Since joining the program Bulat has learned a lot of career skills and has grown both personally and professionally. One of the most valuable things he has learned was the importance of honing his communication skills.
“Communication is key. After talking to professionals from various industries, I noticed one common skill they found important: communication. This skill will help me not only to get an internship or a first full-time offer but also help throughout my career. “
He has found that having a Mentor Coach and networking with other professionals is incredibly useful.
“Having exposure to volunteers who are willing to share their experiences, truly helped me to understand myself and ultimately shaped my career path. Additionally, ANY-hosted career days with well-known companies across different industries allowed me to see what it truly is like to work in a professional setting. “
He greatly values his experience with his Mentor Coach, who provided valuable insights into the finance industry and influenced Bulat’s decision to change his major.

He helped me to go through a multitude of interviews for internship programs that I secured, which I appreciate a lot. Bulat has secured a summer finance internship at Verizon. He leveraged an OUF submission along with his resume to distinguish himself as a candidate. With assistance from Neil in interview preparation, Bulat successfully landed the position.
