Umida , is a senior at Hunter College studying Accounting. She loves working with numbers and helping people understand finance better. To Umida accounting isn’t just about keeping track of money; it’s about giving clear advice that can really help individuals and businesses do well financially.
“I joined the ANY Fellows Program because I’ve always been passionate about expanding my professional network and gaining access to mentors who can guide me through the early stages of my career. The idea of having a mentor who possesses both the experience and the willingness to share their knowledge to help me carve out my path was incredibly appealing to me. “

David is a finance and accounting professional with a CPA, and currently works as a Controller who manages operations and reporting at Riverstone, a global private equity firm that invests in energy. He became a Mentor Coach at ANY because he finds volunteering fulfilling and beneficial for society.
“I have always found that volunteering and giving back is a great use of my time, and ANY is such a great program to do that through. I also think at this stage of my career I have a bit of advice and experience to offer and wanted to invest that in someone over a period of time.”
Umida met David at the beginning of the program and they immediately decided on partnering because of their shared career interests and goals.
“My experience with Umida has gone really well so far and continues to grow. We started to click soon after meeting and had a mutual interest in partnering up which became the foundation for our experience with ANY.”
Umida credits David with helping to boost her self-confidence. He also stressed the importance of setting boundaries.
“The thing I appreciate the most about him is his way of lifting me up and making me feel trusted. Talking to him is always easy, which has boosted my confidence and pushed me to chase my goals.”
David has nothing but great things to say about Umida and believes the best thing about her is her strength of character.

“Umida is someone with great values, who treats people well and looks to do the right thing. The fact that on top of that she is bright and hard-working just complements her even more.”
Among the various aspects of the program, Umida found the mock interviewing sessions, resume workshops, and the opportunities to secure internships particularly beneficial.
“These workshops have built up my confidence and improved my work skills, preparing me for the competitive job market.”
David feels strongly about ANY’s mission and highly recommends becoming a Mentor Coach.
“For me, the best part about being a mentor is getting to see my Fellow experience success and sharing those moments with her. A lot of work goes into the professional development aspect of the program, and seeing Umida flourish as she continues to accomplish more as a student and soon-to-be young professional is very rewarding.
ANY serves an important purpose in our community and getting to be a part of that is a great experience that benefits everyone involved.”
